Integrity

posted 2001 by Hershey Bell

At our workplace, someone has in their email tagline the quote, "Integrity cannot be displayed, it is shown." Besides making not much sense, has anyone ever heard this quote or know to whom it is attributed, or, if it is being misquoted, what the actual quote is?

No idea whatsoever - perhaps the person on whose email it appears. Whoever wrote it, it is perfectly true and makes a lot of sense. Integrity is not a "quality one can attribute to oneself without hubris. Its presence or absence is revealed only by behavior. In our behavior we may show it. Displaying it would be like boasting about ones modesty.

...and what if everybody's giving in to a wrongdoing?

...to that, I may add "Not because everybody's committing a wrongdoing that makes it a right thing"...
